Kate Macdowell

Stunning porcelain sculptures by Kate Macdowell.

'I’ve lived and worked in many different environments and cultures that have influenced the way I perceive the world, and therefore my pieces. These experiences have ranged from teaching in urban high schools and producing websites in the high-tech corporate environment, to volunteering at a meditation retreat center in rural India a few hours outside of the fever pitch of Bombay. I’ve also collected visual imagery and ideas from my travels through Renaissance Italy, Classical and Minoan Greece, Nepal and Thailand.'

Pill bottles...

Pills bottles are surprisingly attractive on top of a light box! Set of images for a iPhone app I am designing to help remind people to take their medication...

"we never have enough money to do the fun, adventurous things"

Want to feature in a pod?

what you need to become a podmod

  • plain white t-shirt (no vests/dresses etc)
  • props (optional but recommended)
  • camera / camera phone

what we need:

  • no obstruction to the front of t-shirt (this is the advertising space)
  • arms and top of head in shot
  • from waist up
  • image sent as high quality Jpeg, png or gif.
we encourage you to be creative when taking your photo - the more creative, funny, sexy or plain crazy your white t-shirt picture is, the more people will look at it, and the more valuable you will be to an advertiser.

Zombie flash mob...

Just been researching for a 'community' brief and came across some very interesting 'Flashmobs'.

A flash mob (or flashmob) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse.

Yulia Brodskaya...

Some stunning pieces by Yulia Brodskaya. Yulia Brodskaya was born in Russia (Moscow); prior to moving to the UK in 2004 she was interested in diverse creative practices ranging from Textile Painting, Origami and Collage to more traditional Fine Art practices. Following an MA in Graphic Communication (2006, University of Hertfordshire) she has continued to experiment and explore ways of bringing together all the things she likes most: typography, paper, and highly detailed hand-made craft objects.

Absolutely love it... :)

Gorgeous website...

http://www.daggerfin.com/

Currently just been looking around notcot.org at general design... Came across a very nice html site by a creative company Daggerfin.

The site is all one page with anchor points set as 'pages'. They decided to place a simple graphic on the background and then use another layer above with 'shaped holes'. As you scoll down the page these holes appear as shapes... bubble, water drips etc.
